Mandi + Zach

Deepwood Museum and Gardens in Salem, Oregon
Saturday, July 13th, 2019

Zach and Mandi’s wedding was my “gateway drug” into wedding photography. I was a fashion photographer at the time and refused to get into weddings because I’d heard so many horror stories about them from other photographers. Mandi, who loved working with me in fashion, said that she couldn’t trust anyone else to capture her wedding, so I agreed—and I’ve never looked back.

The couple, who had met at an anime convention, decided on a Disney-themed wedding at Deepwood Museum and Gardens, the site of a historic Victorian house with lush botanical gardens and a greenhouse. The wedding party wore Mickey Mouse ears and everything from the balloons to the cake to the music was all Disney.

One thing that really struck me on that day was the love and closeness between the couple and their families. It was touching to see the memorial to Zach’s late father and to hear everyone recall their fond memories of him.

It was such a magical and magnificent wedding, and I’m so lucky it was my first one. Many blessings to Zach and Mandi.
