Sometimes, great love stories start out with a fight. This was certainly the case for Manny and Alex, who met when they were both attending George Fox University. Alex’s headlights shone right into Manny’s dorm when he would return late at night, and Manny confronted him angrily about it. Fortunately, the two got a second chance when they met again at a travel abroad class, where they realized just how much they had in common. Their romance quickly blossomed, and Alex wound up proposing to Manny during a snow day while they were taking a walk on campus. They were in the middle of a snowball fight when Alex threw a ring at Manny—an appropriate move considering how their romance began!
I was thrilled when Manny asked me to be her wedding photographer. Her twin sister is my best friend! The couple’s families are close as well, so I just knew this wedding was going to be wonderful.
On a beautiful September day, a big group of the couple’s family and friends gathered at The Old Schoolhouse—nestled in the breathtaking Willamette Valley against a backdrop of orchards, mountains, and vineyards—to witness Manny and Alex’s marriage.
One big highlight was an old Hollywood glam-style photoshoot I did with Manny and her bridal party. They had a blast posing for the camera as they got ready for the day.
Manny was a stunning sight as she walked down the aisle to meet her groom. Lush floral arrangements in autumnal colors lined her path, leading to a large sculptural floral arrangement that acted as a backdrop for the ceremony. Pastor Martin, a family friend who flew in from Texas, led the couple through their vows as their loved ones sat in reverent silence, enjoying the beauty of the moment.
And then came the dancing! The groom and groomsmen took turns showing off their breakdancing moves. The father of the bride and the father of the groom did the money dance together. Manny and her dad, who are huge heavy metal fans, headbanged in unison as they danced. It was great to see how carried away everyone got.
I’m so honored I was able to capture this happy and love-filled day. I wish Manny and Alex all the best and can’t wait to see how their future together unfolds.
