Erica + Quentin

Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa in Hood River, Oregon

The only thing better than photographing a one-of-a-kind wedding is when your best friend is the bride. Erica and I met at a mutual friend’s bridal shower. We bonded over our love of pet rats, and we’ve been thick as thieves ever since. The year before, I photographed her twin sister Manny’s wedding, so I was excited to celebrate again with some of the same wonderful people.

Erica and Quentin’s love story began with a Tinder swipe. She wasn’t that into him after their first date, but he went home and told his family and friends that he had met the woman of his dreams. He didn’t let her indifference discourage him, though. He stayed focused solely on her and won her over by always wanting to hang out and talk. The two went on to become parents to 11 ducks and birds, 3 dogs, and a plethora of fish.

On a sunny, perfect July day, Erica and Quentin’s family and friends gathered at the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa to witness the couple’s union. It was one of the most magical venues I’ve ever seen, with lush gardens, ponds, and breathtaking views of the Columbia River, Mount Hood, and Mount Baker.

Pastor Martin, a family friend who had flown in from Texas, married the lovely pair. Right before the first kiss Erica said, “So are you gonna kiss me or what?”—the same line she used on their first date! Overlooking the dramatic cliffside scenery, surrounded by forests and flowers, Erica and Quentin tied the knot.

Much fun was had by all at the reception. Laughter rippled through the room when Erica’s dad made the first toast in honor of this being “the last wedding I have to pay for.” Another funny moment was the couple’s first dance, set to “Just the Two of Us” from Austin Powers (the scene where Dr. Evil and his mini-me dance together). It was truly a beautiful time. The only downside was that it ended too soon.

I simply loved playing my part in this wedding. I wish my dear friend and her amazing husband all the happiness and love they can handle. Cheers to Erica and Quentin!
